Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a doorstep sale?

A doorstep sale (officially: off-premises contract) includes contracts concluded at your home, workplace, on the street, during an excursion sale, or in similar situations outside the trader's business premises (§ 312b BGB).

Can I still withdraw after 14 days?

Yes, if the trader did not inform you properly about your withdrawal right. In this case, the withdrawal period extends to 12 months and 14 days from conclusion of the contract (§ 356 Abs. 3 BGB). This is frequently the case with doorstep sales.

Do I have to return goods already received?

Yes, after withdrawal you must return goods already received within 14 days (§ 357 Abs. 1 BGB). The trader must refund the purchase price within 14 days of receiving the withdrawal, but may withhold the refund until receiving the returned goods.
